Beginner 6 Week Class
Try It Class
Clay pieces require 2 firings in order to be finished. You can come back to paint your
pieces 2 weeks after making them. This extra time gives the clay the proper time to be
dried and fired. After you glaze your pieces they are ready to pick up 7 to 9 days later.
The paint is non-toxic and all materials we work with are washable with water. Nothing will
stain however we do have a few aprons in the studio for those who don’t want to get as
dirty. Trimmed nails work best for throwing on the wheel and we recommend all jewelry to
be removed from wrists and fingers.
This is a 6 week course where you will begin to learn the
basics of throwing. Each week you will be introduced to new
techniques from centering your clay to glazing and finishing
your pieces. Class fee includes 6 weeks of free studio time,
instruction for 2.5 hours once a week for 6 weeks (2 hours
for one person) and 8 pounds of clay. Extra clay can be
purchased for $6 per pound once you have used up your
class amount.  Please feel free to call the studio for any
specific questions about the class and to set up a class.
1 day class to “Try” the wheel
1.5 hours (1 person only 1 hour)
Class fee includes instruction, studio fee, and one piece
completely finished. Additional pieces may be thrown and are $6
per pound of clay. You will be able to return 2 weeks later to
finish your pieces. We require a weeks notice prior to the date
of the class and class must be paid in full at time of the
reservation.
How do I make a Reservation?
Stop in the studio or call us anytime during open hours. We are happy to answer any other
questions you have and set up your class! We can have a class any day during the week,
even Saturday and Sunday! When you call us up let us know what time of the day and
what day works for you. We will then call up our wheel instructors and see if they are
available. Once we have found a day that will work we will call you back to finalize the
reservation and take full payment of the class. Full payment is required upon reservation
of your class.
You do not need to take a class to utilize our wet clay studio however our employees are not required to know
how to throw on the wheel and can not help you if you come in outside of a class. We have 4 wheels in the
studio and they share space in our party room, so if we have any large groups or parties the wheel area will
not be available. We are more than happy to let you know when wheel time is available, you can just call the
studio any time during open hours and we will check our books. To use the clay studio you pay a $6 per day
studio fee which covers the use of our space and tools as well as covers the recycling of any clay you do not
keep. For clay you do decide to keep we weigh it when it comes off the wheel wet and it is $6 per pound which
covers both firings and glazing.
